Thank You Letters Family Reunions

Family reunions usually take a lot of work, both physical and emotional, to get organised. Those who go to the trouble of arranging a full family reunion should be thanked for their efforts with a well written thank you letter.

Content of a Thank You Letter for Organising a Family Reunion

Thank you letters that are sent after a family reunion should thank the host not just for the family reunion itself, but also all of the work that (s)he put into planning the events involved. Details from the events, as well as details of the planning and organisation involved in them, should be included in these thank you letters so that they have a personalised and specific feel. For example, writers could express thanks for all of the work that would have gone in to securing group discounts at local hotels as well as the wonderful poolside cocktail party that took place at one of them. If events were less successful than anticipated then letters could simply include details of how nice it was for the writers to see relatives and become reacquainted with family members who had not been in attendance at the last few family reunions. If thank you letters are sent after a first ever family reunion then they could also include details of what a wonderful idea it was and how much the writer is looking forward to another reunion in the future.

Format of a Thank You Letter for Organising a Family Reunion

Thank you letters for organising a family reunion would generally be more informal letters. As such, it is appropriate to leave out details of the writer and recipient's addresses. These letters should be handwritten to lend a more personal feel to them, and sending them on notecards or on commercial thank you cards is fine. These letters could also be sent via email or e-card. Letters sent through the post should be timed so that they are delivered to the recipient no more than two weeks after the event. Electronic communications should be timed so that they are delivered to the recipient no more than one week after the event.

Dear Frank and Marie,

We just wanted to write to thank you again for organising such a successful Hart Family Reunion. This year's reunion was by far the best we've ever attended and you must have put a great deal of effort into planning all of the corresponding events. From the shuttle buses to the slideshows, everything was planned down to the last detail and it all worked like clockwork.

It was wonderful to have a chance to catch up with relatives we haven't seen for a while and to meet new members of the extended Hart family. The family bowling tournament in particular was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to mix and mingle. We're already looking forward to having a chance to defend our title again soon!

Thank you again for such a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,

Terry, Heather and the kids
