Thank You Letter for Client or Customer Referral

Thank You Thanks Letters Business

Many good businesses welcome new clients who have been referred by one of their existing clients or customers. When these businesses know that one of their existing clients or customers has referred someone else it is good business etiquette to send that client or customer a thank you letter.

Content of a Thank You Letter for a Client or Customer Referral

A thank you letter for a client or customer referral should have three main components: notification that a referral was a success, an explicit thank you for the referral and details of any discounts or offers that the successful referral has won the referring client or customer. If possible these thank you letters should not be form letters, but rather personalised enough that the recipients know that the letters were written with thought rather than retrieved from a template database. Such individualised service may well be one of the reasons that the recipients made the referrals in the first place - and/or will make more in the future.

Presentation of a Thank You Letter for a Client or Customer Referral

A thank you letter for a client or customer referral should be a formal business letter unless the organisation sending the letter is very small and enjoys very informal relationships with its clients and customers. As formal business letters, these thank you letters should include the names, titles and organisational contact details of both the writer and recipient. They should employ more formal salutations and closings, and have the signature of the organisation's spokesperson. As formal communication from an organisation these thank you letters should also be type and printed on organisational letterhead. Again, unless a business is small and enjoys informal relationships with its clients and customers, posting these letters would be preferable to hand delivery, though registered post is probably not needed.

Dear Ms. Pringle,

It is with great thanks that I write to inform you that Miller's Flour has become Quick Printing's newest client following a referral from Poppy's Pastries.

Quick Printing has always sought to serve the local community, and with your help we are expanding rapidly as the printers of choice amongst local businesses. Much of this is due to your exceptional referrals. With the successful signing of Miller's Flour that now makes five accounts that have been direct results of your referrals.

As a small token of thanks for these recommendations and referrals, Quick Printing would like to offer Poppy's Pastries a 15% discount on its next printing order. Please quote "Successful Referral" when placing the order online or contact me directly and I will make sure that your discount is applied. This discount may be take on any goods or service that Quick Printing offers, though it may only be applied one time to one order.

Once again, thank you for your referrals and helping Quick Printing to become the leading printer in the Town area.

Sincerely,

Milo Marks
